Whats the real call on Octane? Do you have to run Super all the time like the dealer says? Just wondering... what the scoop?

The higher the octane the lest likely the fuel mixture will burn prematurely, more or less. Timing, elevation and heat all influnce the best fuel for your engine. My street/strip car is set up for high octane but with a few quick changes it can be set up for regular. As far as the fj, run premium as often as you can. I've evperienced better fuel millage (km per litre here in CANADA) more responsive throttle and for the extra 5 bucks at the pump when you fill up why not. If stuck in the middle of knowhere regular with octane boots work ok too.

To me, the 89octane runs better in the lower and midrange, the 93octane seems to run better on the top end.
