Be careful where you spend your hard earned money. It's almost unbelievable.

Pretty crazy. That's why I do all my work myself.

That's why I don't use Jiffy Lube...
I have also been known to stand in areas where I can see my vehicle at all times when being worked on.

I used Jiffy Lube a few years back and thought that they did not replace my oil filter so I marked a line with a permenant marker on the filter. When I got my vehicle back, it still had the same filter on it. I brought it to the service manager's attention and he gave me a full tune-up including oil filter, fuel filter, plugs/wires, air filter, etc etc. I watched them do everything and have never been to one since. This was somewhere arund 99-2000.

guys, finding an honest mechanic is like finding an honest lawyer. Sure, they're out there, but the majority are bloodsucking lyers. Do your research na dfind the cause of your problems the best you can before you go in, and at that, watch them like a hawk.
I never let my wife take the car in for anything, not becuase she is stupid but just that she is not interested in cars and simply does not know and is a very trusting person. That makes her an ideal candidate for these bloodsuckers.
Overall, don't be so surprised by stories like the one NBC4 came up with, it happens all over the country, all the time.

Just do your homework and watch every move and ask plenty of questions. I usually throw a couple of questions in there, that I know the answer to before hand. This helps me guage who I'm talking to.

OMG, that is one of the best features on the FJ is the position of the oil filter. You can see if it's been changed if you bring it in or if you change it yourself its right there. I do like using factory filters though, much better quality. Too much to gamble on for saving a few cents.

My days of crawling under a car to save $10 bucks is over. I will bring it in every time.
