I currently have the six-speaker setup with the basic radio/single CD player in my FJ. I want to install rear pillar speakers so my daughter will be able to better hear the radio when she is riding in the back seat. I’m not looking to blow out my windows here – I just would like a reasonable amount of good sound added in the back.

Have any of you with the basic radio/single CD player installed speakers in the rear pillars of your FJs? How is the sound quality? Does the basic radio have the power to adequately power the rear speakers without installing an amplifier?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if this will help, but I have the six-disc version and I have replaced both the dash and rear pillar speakers with JL Audio TX 350 3.5" 2-way full range speakers and the difference was unbelievable, and the stock amp handled it fine, Good luck.

If I may ask, where did you pick up the JL Audio TX 350's, and did you need to perform any mods to get them into the dash and pillars?

Love my FJ, but Toyota did chince out a tad on the phonics.

cruzrman,
Could you look and see if there is a part number on the covers for the rear speakers. I want to add a pair to my rear pillars and can't locate a part number for the covers.
Thanks for the help,

They are selling on Ebay. Check it out. Thought it had a part number on it, but I don't see it now.
