I noticed mine chipping after the first winter (i bought mine in June '06) especially on the sides of the windshield. Mine is Black Cherry color.I asked if that was under warranty and the dealer told me no.

Currently I have over 40 chips on my what is fast becoming Blue Speckled egg. I've seen statements all over the web where other FJ owners are experincing this same problem only to have a dealer come back and say it's normal rock chips. Well I hate to tell them I don't make it a habit of driving down the road side ways with my door open so how else are they going to explain the chips down both sides and INSIDE MY DOORS!!!!!

I've done the carry it to the dealer, leave and let the DOM come by and look at it and then reply it's normal rock chips. I've called the Toyota Customer Service 800 number only to be told the case is closed based upon the DOM's findings. I've paid their price and followed their rules for what I had hoped to be a great automobile supported by a great company. Toyota keeps saying they haven't heard of this problem before, I've seen posts on the web urging people to report their paint problems to Toyota but it all seems to be falling on deaf ears. Guess it's time to tie $100 worth of lemons on it and drive to every dealership I can and show potential buyers what they get when they spend 30K+ on a Toyota.

I have a blue 2007 FJ. I have at least 20 paint chips around the windshield and a few on the hood. The pieces around the windshield appear to be plastic and the paint is very thin. It is very dissappointing to have to keep touching these up.

I have plenty of chips off of my Voodoo Blue. I have also had one of the "A" pillar covers replaced from a rock hit. Paint chips are a part of life when owning a car shaped like a box. When I had a 79 VW bus, the front of that was chipped all to hell.

I am begining to wonder if this problem has been addressed at the factory.
I purchased my Cruiser in June of 07 and have not experienced anywhere near the number of chips that I hear of other FJ-ers having. During a trip this past January, I was blocked in traffic just behind a D.O.T. salt truck on a highway. I feared a broken windshield or maybe something worse. But if any damage was done to the paint, I can't find it. I would like to see how old the vehicles are that have a lot of paint chips like you have mentioned. I now feel lucky because I only have a few chips to complain about. Thanks for your time!
