Although not a solution to the "too high" problem, see also the Gobi Ranger (2 versions). It's a full size rack with light bar. Rather formidable looking.

I just got a used stock rack for 80 bux. I guess the owner tried to park in his 4 panel garage. It has a slight bent in the back, and is missing one mount, but it matches all the dents and scratches already in my Cruiser.

if you had an on board air compressor, you could let your the air in your tires slightly to try to clear then air them up when you left... j/k. that would suck to do every time.
this thread makes me wonder what the ht is of my garage door...

I vote move.
When I got my FJ home I pulled it into the garage and then looked as a second thought. Holy cats was it close.
You gotta have the roof rack, they just look plain without them. Sorry guys if you don't have one, it's just my opinion.

I would move or modify the garage
I actually had to remove one of the molding pieces around the garage door to allow the FJ to squeeze in. I just painted where I removed the molding...looks perfect. I was actually prepared to cut a 2 inch opening out of the top of the garage and reset the door opener a bit higher...but there was no need
