So my wonderful wife borrowed my 2 week old FJ during a light snow and skidded to a stop by doing a 180 down a hill and hitting a friends pickup at minimal speed. Luckily no damage to wife or kids except a good scare and minimal damage to the FJ, just one corner of the bumper and just a little of the center section of the bumper, like 1" and no sheet metal damage. I would guess about $250 to $300. My FJ came without the Toyota trailer hitch and harness which I was going to put on for about $500. Well between getting the bumper fixed and the factory hitch I'm at $800 already so I figure it would be a good time to put something a little bit more substantial on it.

Any suggestions for a rear bumper? I would like one that works with the backup sensors, but I can't figure out if any of them actually work with a real bumper. Any experience?

thanks.

I know you can get the hitch receiver and harness for under $300. I got mine off of ebay. They were brand new and even from a toyota dealer brand new out of the box.

Yep thanks, that is what the dealer sells it for plus $200 labor. If I go with an aftermarket (LOTS better protection) I'll still need to buy the factory harness.

As far as labor, it wasnt difficult at all installing it. Just some basic shop tools and alittle bit of time. Put mine on in no time. Oh and plus i like the looks of factory tow hitch because it fits snugger to the bumper and in just my opinion looks a whole lot sleaker!

The only thing that concerns me is installing the harness. How is that hooked up.
As far as the bumper since I have to pay for the new corner piece and the center piece is a little dented also I'm thinking about aftermarket. The major advantage of after market is it is not as fragile as the factory unit.
