I plan to install fog lights on the factory bumper. The factory brackets run about $95. Has anyone used these brackets and did they meet your expectations for function and appearance? The light kits I am considering are the Hella 500 fog or the KC slimlight fog? Any recomendatins on lights would be appreciated.

I had a pair of Hella 500's on my Tacoma. They were OK. Not all that bight and the quality was kind of cheap but they didn't cost too much. Actually I had to return one. It cracked because of the cold. The retailer replaced it and I didn't have any problems after that.
Everyone seems to rave about the PIAA 520's and there is a kit specifically for the FJ. They are alot more expensive than the Hella's but I guess you get what you pay for.
BTW why do you want factory brackets? There are metal mounting plates just under the plastic bumper.
Just do a search on this forum and you will find mounting instructions.

While on fog lamps topic. Toyota offers roof and bumper mounted fogs. Can you get both? Or is it one of the other? Just researching before I purchase.

Thanks for you advice. I agree, I've heard good things about the PIAAs. I found the mounting locations on the front bumper and the factory connector by the relay box.

Does anyone know a source for the factory auxilary light wire harness or the male end of the factory connector?

You can use the factory fog light kits for the roof and grille at the same time.
