Did anyone determine if LT285/70R17 BFG's work on a stock FJ? A "Tires and Rims" thread seemed like a good place for this sort of info.

It's pretty difficult to say "yes, that size will fit", as there is so many variables.
One tire that says it's a 285/70/17 may measure slightly different than another tire from a different manufacturer of the same size. And there is also the rim sizing, and offset/backspacing.
All I can say is my Goodyear MT/R's size 285/70/17 fit using the stock aluminum rims with zero rubbing. No rubbing on the street, OR hard wheeling. But I've also been called a liar on another site for saying that same thing. He said he had the same exact tires, and they rubbed a lot. Although he wouldn't tell me what rims he used.

I wish they made a 35" Goodyear MT/R on a 17" rim. But only a 33", 34", and a 37" are available on the 17" rim.

ok Im putting a 6 inch rough country lift in very soon and am loosing my mind trying to figure this tire thing out.
1. what is the offset and how does it affect fitment and ride.
2. will 35 inch tires fit on stock 17inch rims without rubbing ... i know there are lots of variables but any advice will help.
3 will 35 inch tires and 17 rims still fit on the spare braket or do yoiu need to pick up one of the attachments
any help is much appreaciated
