My transfer case knob came loose this weekend (able to easily twist it). I can tighten the knob by twisting it clockwise, but that throws off the gear pattern alignment. Is there a way to adjust the gear pattern positioning after tightening the knob? I called the dealer, and they suggested I bring it in for them to take a look at it. I have they imitation billet aluminum/black knob/auto transmission version. I wanted to ask you guys, before driving the 30+ miles to the dealer. Seems like there should be a simple answer. Thanks for any help.

Not 100% sure, but there may be a recessed "set screw" that you can tighten once you get the knob in the position you want.

Thanks for the input. I don't see any type of adjustment screw/nut on the knob. I'm wondering if the plastic top that has the pattern on it, pops off. I'm worried I'll scratch it up if I try and pop it off with a knife/screwdriver, or that it's glued on or something like that. I may be taking a trip to the dealer. Oh well. Minor issue.

I ended up going to the dealership on this one, and the service manager confirmed that there isn't a set screw or anything like that for this knob. He did what I probably should have done, and cranked down on the knob, rotating it a full turn, and lining it up correctly. I felt stupid, but I know if I have tried that, I would have probably snapped it in half!
