I have about 4000 miles on my blue FJ and about 20 paint chips. I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem too. I've purchased the touch up paint already but am looking into ways to stop it from happening (i.e. a spray on protector). The chips are not just in one location. The pillars of the windshield have some (driver side has more) as well as both front quarter panels and both doors. I took the FJ to a local paint shop and they said the paint that Toyota is using is great against scratches but it does chip easy. Any thoughts or comments are welcomed

I've been lucky enough to only have a few tiny paint chips and only a few minor scratches. I don't feel like the FJ chips or scratches easier than any other vehicle I've had.

Well your best defence against paint chips is to install a 3M paint protection kit. They come in a number of configurations and work well. Go to www.xpel.com to find a local dealer. You could install it yourself but it's a little tricky if you have no experience. It took me about 4 hours for the entire kit, mirrors, grille, pillars, roof, hood. but I have experience and this kit is easy to ruin it you don't know what you're doing.

To fix the chips you already have go to www.paintbull.com They will have a local dealer they can set you up with. I have seen the system work first hand in the past and it does a good job. I think its about $100 for front end chip repair.

Hope this helps
