Hello Everyone,

I have had a couple issues with my FJ Cruiser that I have had checked several times by my dealership and never repaired. When I ask them about it they either never experience the problem or they tell me it's normal and nothing can be done. I am hoping that someone here may have come across these problems and know if they can be fixed.

The first problem I have been having (since I got my FJ Cruiser) is that when I am completely stopped at a light sometimes I feel it jerk forward a little. When it first happened I thought I was hit from behind but later found out that it was just the FJ doing it. It will usually occur once every few days, depending on how often I am driving around with it. I have had people in the vehicle with me when it happened and they would look around to see who hit us or ask me if I had let go or stopped too fast and hard. It's very noticeable. When I talked to my dealership about this they told me it was the air compressor that does this and it was normal. There was nothing they could do about it? Does anyone else experience this problem too?

My second issue is with my driver's side seat belt. When I'm driving around and making turns (mostly left) I will hear a creaking noise (very noticeable to all in the vehicle). I have had this checked several times but my dealership tells me they never hear it even though anyone who drives my car does all the time. When I ask them about it they tell me that it is also normal and that they can do nothing about it. Anyone else having this problem?

If anyone can help out that would be appreciated. I don't really know much about vehicles, maybe these are normal sounds but if these are problems I would like to get them worked out, especially before they become something serious.

Thanks in advance for any help you may provide.

Cheers,

Brad

Brad, I totally have the same problem! I've taken my 2008 FJ in to the dealers 3 times now and described the exact same thing about feeling a little jolt almost like being tapped by another vehicle. The dealer says that nobody else is having this problem and they haven't been able to duplicate it. I then had them give me the phone number to Toyota customer service to report this. They told me that if people don't call in to complain, then nothing will be done. I'm almost out of warranty, I have 32,000 miles on my FJ and I want this problem fixed...
Please call the Toyota customer service to lodge a complaint. They told me that if enough people had the same problem, then they will investigate it furthur and issue a service bulletin for the repair... Good luck with yours! Bob

I too have felt the jolting problem on my 08', the first time was right after i bought i bought it, i was at a drive through and thought a chick had hit me, i got super pissed, went back to her car and saw her messing with something in the back, so iyelled at her, and she insisted she hadnt done anything, after i checked out both vehicles and not noticed anything, i felt really bad and bought her her dinner. it happens occasionally ever since then, but, now with 47,000 miles on her it still doesnt happen very often. not too often. i never went to a dealer becuase i researched it and called the dealer they had no clue what i was talking about, i kind of have a hunch it has something to do with the brakes, becuase they are electronically hydraulic acctuatedish, lol, meaning, they are your normal hydraulic brakes but i beleive they are electronic... there is something in the brake system causing this, but i dont think its anything to make a huge fuss about so toyota will catch more s***. the only other thing i have had problems with is the drivers side armrest. for some reason, it has worn down a lot and now uncomfortable and the tiny little metal rod is going to poke through the fabric soon. haha. oh well... maybe i can find a cheap one to replace it somtime. haha

The "bump or jerk" you feel is common. It tends to happen if you stop to fast or "ride" your brake to a coasting stop.
