I was wondering everyones opinion on this, I double checked with Geezer and its true that Toyota is killing off the FJ Cruiser. Edmunds and Vehix both say its gone, as well as Toyota news bulletins on Google!

Since they are no longer in production, do you think that will help or hurt their resale value?

Just wondering....

Thanks for the help!

A small part of me is kinda glad they are discontinued. I LOVE my FJ and I was worried that down the road they would change it up and make me want a new one to get the latest bells and whistles.
I'm tired of playing that game of always trading in.

Now my original plan of being married to this particular FJ will come true.

This will be the last truck I buy. I'm gonna tweek this baby for years to come and perhaps my boy will take over down the road.

I believe these FJ Cruisers will either stablize or increase in value as soon as people realize what a true utility vehicle it is. Lots of guys have bought 1/2 ton pickups with 8cyl engines to haul 12ft johnboats. They don't need a truck. Anyway, I'm keeping my Cruiser and its 20/22mpg till the body falls off the frame. Just hoping to be able to get parts if needed.

Sorry man....you can't seriously think any car's value increases as time goes on?? If that were the case, they would be called investments and not expenses. Unless you keep your FJ bubble-wrapped for the next 50 years, your dollar value is going nowhere but down. Now, of course your fun value will go up as you continue to enjoy and modify your baby as I will be.

And 22mpg? Did you get a different FJ than I did? I only do highway driving and averaging 18mpg.

I bought a 1974 Celica GT 5-speed manual, new and out the door, for $4000. Sold it in 1978 for $4000. Yes, I know inflation played a part in this but I was very happy. Who knows what will happen with the FJC...Hmmm, you probably won't find many mint Cruisers though. Not mine anyway...About the 22mpg. I paid $27,000 out the door for a pretty basic(no roof rack)auto transmission model. I do my own oil changes, switched to Mobil 1 fully synthetic at 500 miles. Slapped a K&N air filter on at the same time. Keep 36lbs of air in the tires. Run premium gas mostly but have ran regular. Check my mileage from tank to tank trying to use the same pump. Drive about 75% highway. Rarely run over about 2000rpm and rarely drive over 60mph. I've gotten up to 24mpg on longer drives but have also seen 18mpg when I drive in town. 20/22mpg is normal though. Yeah, I know my driving habits are a little anal but I'm 56 years old and am in no big hurry to go anywhere...Have fun. Drive safe.
