I just read an interesting tidbit in the owner's manual. If you have to pass emissions testing that plugs into the onboard computer (obd systems) you may fail the emissions test if the computer has stored a trouble code. Even if the check engine light isn't on, it will store these codes. Leaving the gas cap off is one of these codes. So, it is best to clear the computer's memory BEFORE the emissions test.

Latest on my FJ....although the dealer cleaned out my fuel tank, cleaned the injectors, etc., told me the gas cap was OK, and sent me on my way...less than 2 weeks later it happened again....I'm waiting on Toyota's reply to my Lemon Law request for a new one....at least I know one thing...IT WAS NOT "BAD GAS".....

My FJ experienced the misfire, check engine light problem again yesterday. This time i drove it that way to a dealer. I told them NOT to turn it off before they got it hooked up to the analysis equipment.
Outcome: It needs a new computer!!!....Problem solved?????
I hope so....
