Hi all,

I just received my Silver FJ 4x4 AUTO last week. Thanks to these forums, I declined the Upgrade Package and only selected the Rear Diff Locker and save myself a bunch of money. I sent in and got the "free" ATRAC (button from TRD). THANK YOU!

On to my question. My FJ came with the roof rack and tow package...I am not sure if I like the Rear Spare Wheel cover. The plastic look seems a bit cheap to me, and I think the plain aluminum wheel looks a bit more rugged and cooler.

What do you all think? Cover or no cover? Any reason to have the rear spare wheel cover?

Thanks,

CJ

Quite frankly, I think the stock spare wheel cover looks kinda lame. Having said that, there is currently a stock spare wheel cover on my FJ... Why? Because when I took my FJ to the dealer to have the complimentary wheel locks put on, the dopey knuckleheads only put locks on the four driving wheels and not on the spare; in the meantime, while the set of 5 locks is on order, I have the wheel cover on. Living in So. Cal. can be a bit treacherous at times and I would hate to pull into a 7-11 for coffee and some Zingers only to come back to a spare tire-less car.

In my opinion, the rear of the car just looks a lot more cool and rugged WITHOUT the spare tire cover. Also, my brother remarked that with the cover on it looks like a toy car.

Interesting. I got the cheapest of the cheap models. In Canada, the aluminum rims were the only ones available, and the 5 locking lug nuts were stock. I had to buy them.

Yep, that's my thinking too. I think I will leave it off. However, you make a good point about the locking lug nuts. I need to get some of those.

Thanks for the replies!

Don't feel too cheated... The locking lug nuts were the only things they were willing to give for free the night I bought my FJ. And I pretty much had to force the issue as they were not feeling too generous in May when FJ's were scarce.
