I just put 285/70R17 wheels and tires on my FJ (after a three inch lift from Revtek). My question is; can the stick rear tire carry accomidate this size tire or do you have to make an adapter of some type?

Depending on the offset on your new rims, it should fit. I have 285/70/17 on my carrier, but still on stock rims. Plenty of room left over. I understand a 34" tire will fit back there and the window still opens. (285/70/17 mearsures about 33")
